    breaking news: http://www.hochi.co.jp/entertainment/20150204-OHT1T50098.html
a member (12 yo) has been hospitalized due to emergency after she collapsed at the Hoshikuzu Shoji shooting scene after sucking helium. It's a case of cerebral air embolism, I haven't watched it yet, so is it that kind of the show? Hope she's okay. At this rate the show is at risk of getting canceled.

12 yo could be the ones in her sixth grade or a junior high freshman, either Suzuki, Aira, Hirase, Nagayama, Ohira or Harina

She was unconscious when she was carried into the hospital.
She seems to be slowly recovering.

It is confirmed that this week episode (2/7) is put on hiatus.
Another source cited the girl as "A-san", so the girl might be Aira, get well soon kid, you're Reni's and everyone's favorite girl. :)

a member (12 yo) has been hospitalized due to emergency after she collapsed at the shooting scene after sucking helium from a balloon. It's a case of cerebral air embolism, I haven't watched it yet, so is it that kind of the show? At this rate the show is at risk of getting canceled.

According to the article I read, it wasn't a balloon, but a party toy marked "for adult use only." Horrifying irresponsible of whoever was making this program. Helium is an asphyxiant gas.

the thing is generally used for balloons and people can just suck into it to create that annoying voice, but yes, it just a total failure of showbiz work safety to try this kind of thing to a 12 yo girl, even though this is rarely fatal.

That's scary. I hope the girl is ok and recovers quickly.

I remember a segment of Ebichu Land where they used helium sprays. They should be more careful.

There are a lot of things that I want to write my opinion about kwkm, but it is impossible to do so with my English.

I'd be interested, and could try translating, maybe in private.

According to the most detailed report I've seen it happened on the 28th, but was kept quiet until they realized she'd be hospitalized for a while. One point against the people in charge.

After taking a big breath of helium, which is more "slippery" than air, it somehow entered the bloodstream and got stuck in the brain, where the bubbles obstruct the blood flow. After a week the girl still can't speak. Doctors aim for full recovery, but can't rule out permanent damage.

hope she's going to be okay.
keeping it quiet is really the worst, it just made everyone else throw further suspicion and that's also when the two of the most talkative higher ups of stardust in twitter suddenly stopped tweeting since yesterday. The tv show production company, Trickstar also deleted Hoshikuzu Shoji from their portfolio and facebook.

That sounds like a very bad situation -- I hope she recovers fully. I know that people use helium pretty casually on TV shows, and at parties in everyday life, as well, but it just doesn't seem safe safe. And a pressurized can isn't the same as a balloon, either -- i think that it's a lot herder to control how much goes into your lungs.
I hope that the people who made the bad decisions in this are the ones who have to pay the price, and not just some underlings.

Ah, the ostrich approach to PR. This is how you get crazy tweets like "Stardust bought Ebichu's Music Station appearance with a 12 y/o life" (same TV station).

I cringed a bit when I read that tweet, oh people.

This Momoclo message sounds like just for a formality because their name is attached everywhere on the news, but at least Momoclo show their support: http://www.momoclo.net/pub/pc/information/?id=1569

From what I understand this was a freak accident, so the use of helium on other shows wasn't totally irresponsible. The problem is trying to watch over 26 children while pressuring them to behave like adults. Apart from the shoot being work, the concept of the show is them joining a company.

I like this variety stuff and always looked down on agencies making their 12 year olds look like adults instead. But maybe that's safer. Or I should make do with less but more expensive content from actual adults.

I am praying that she will recover.
I was going to write my opinion, but I didn't.
Sorry, but I don't really feel like writing about it right now.
