So I tried to get some unused Music Cards for the unit songs on YAJ because the songs haven't made their way to JPS or H!O... and they didn't get here until yesterday, after the download expired. Why the downloads expire, I don't know, but it makes this whole system so useless and I am super sad right now.

Yep. By the time they were delivered to me, it was already February 1st in Japan and therefore useless. :((
