I read the manga, not anime. I think it's pretty popular among international anime fans. Don't know in Japan.

My first time hearing about Akame ga Kill was because of Mayama, but after that I started seeing it on all the anime sites I visit. I guess it was a matter of not paying attention.

I liked the first 13 episodes. If they keep it up for the next ones it has the potential to be quite popular (for international fans at least)
