Notes from Ruthyruth: Konosuke san selects songs for summer driving “American style” ...including "I Get Around" from the Beach Boys, and "Ventura Highway" from America. Ventura Highway plays at about 19:35. After the song at about 22:32 Kanako says that Ventura Highway is an "Adult Dating" song (meaning a song for making love to), Reni quickly agrees. Konosuke says that the two of them probably have "a lot to learn". Kanako rejoins with "It's hard to drive when you're lying down" :-) Also represented in this episode are Peter, Paul, and Mary, The Doobie Brothers, THE ALFEE, and Momoclo of course.
Notes from Ruthyruth: This episode focuses on “Music with Beautiful Japanese Expressions”, more specifically music that is based on Tanka poetry structure. “The Japanese tanka is a thirty-one-syllable poem, traditionally written in a single unbroken line. A form of waka, Japanese song or verse, tanka translates as "short song," and is better known in its five-line, 5/7/5/7/7 syllable count form.” - Academy of American Poets https://poets.org/text/tanka-poetic-form
