1} (side) I'm Takagi Reni, and business is slow at my seafood shop. (flag) Takagi Seafood (expression by Takagi's head) sigh (sign, half-behind the curtain) (tr: dunno, maybe something like, "pond octopus" but I can't really read it)
2} R: You there, princess! You're cute so I'll cut the price for you!
3} S: Me? R: Yeah yeah! You're very cute, y'know! (wooden block) purple (tr: signs above the wood, can't read most of them, but they should be things that Reni is selling, the far right is probably the last letter and a half of "shrimp" the middle MIGHT be clams, and the left... dunno? anything?)
^ Sure. I take tons of liberties in the translations, this was just another one. It's a specific kind of familiar tone that an older man uses when "talking down" to a young woman or girl (even though they're strangers). Maybe it wasn't the clearest translation, but I was trying to get across a kind of difference between the way somebody would politely refer to another person, and the way Reni-Ojichan is taking liberties with Career-Woman-Shiori.
FWIW there are probably tons of things that can be done better in all these translations, but as much as possible I try not to put too much thought into them (because that's one of the causes of week-long back-logs) and save my head-wall action for the goddamn onomatopoeia.
1} S: This is who I am. (wooden block) fish (above wooden block right) still probably shrimp (above wooden block middle) still going with clams, but who knows (above wooden block left) maybe bonito?
2} R: Sales staff Tamai-san...? (card top line) Will assist in any business project (card middle line) Tamai Shiori
3} S: You aren't by any chance having some difficulties? R: Uhh, actually...
4} S: Understood... You'd like to know if anything can be done about your horsey face... R: Didn't say nuthin' like that!!
1} R: My shop just hasn't gotten busy, y'know? It's all sighs (over Reni) Haa... S: For customers like this... (by Shiori) rustle rustle
2} S: MomoKuroChan DVDeeee!! S: If you watch this, the smiles never end! (bottom) Ta-daaa
3} S: As long as you have a great smile, you'll get a lot of customers.
4} S: And what's more! This 5th MomoKuroChan DVD, "Start from GoodMorNight."* is... S: ... on sale today, April 5th! (by Reni) whoahhh *KonbanYo (tr: You've heard it if you watch MomokuroChan or listen to their radio show)
Translation later... but this is the 2nd time that エラ came up with Ariyasu, and the first time I couldn't figure out what they were talking about (when 40-year-old Momoka was performing on the moon, I translated it as "gills"). I assumed it was some inside joke I had missed, but... now, a second time here... I had to do more research.
Apparently, it's the meat and skin around the base of the jaw (where it meets the neck) in women who have a square jaw. I'll figure something out for it when I actually do this comic, but... in case anybody else was wondering what the heck that was about on the moon? It was Ariyasu's meaty cheeks, not some future gill transplant technology.
