Did anyone have any doubts about that? :)

The truth is that with all the controversies I was not sure.
But Momoka has filled bigger places so she should not have problems with these.

The curiosity factor alone would have made it sold out several times :)

And so far I haven't really seen one Momoka fan who has parted from her side because of it
Maybe it's not even a controversy in Japan.
Anyone living in Japan know more?

The big task I think will be to capture the non-idol/Momoclo public to be successful in the long run
She certainly has a better chance than most ex-idols due to her (hopefully still blooming) songwriting capabilities

If she convinces artistically then I don't think anyone will care for her private life anymore

I've seen quite a few unhappy sentiments on Twitter. Mind you, that is with my limited knowledge of Japanese and the automated translate function (which is sketchy at the best of times). But from what I've seen there are some who think Momoka was dishonest when leaving Momoclo, by saying that she wanted to have an ordinary life. Some were also talking about brainwashing by her husband-to-be, and even though I assume he would be to blame for that, some people still seem upset with her for it.

Well she was. But it's important to note that idol contracts often severely limit what you can and cannot say publicly. For instance, it's pretty clear that her contract forced her to wait a year before returning to performing. It stands to reason that it also kept her from announcing her intention to start her own business and perform again (because it would've been considered promotion, which is showbiz activity, so it violates her contract and she can be sued).

So, in light of that, her options were to either say "I cannot tell you why I'm leaving" or come up with an innocuous lie or half truth (a half truth is half a lie by definition, so it counts as "dishonest"). I think it's pretty obvious that she made the right choice. Option one would've caused all sorts of hostility and bad feelings through her final month. For no good reason.

But the fans who are unhappy are welcome to open up their lives to the public, and prove that they've never been dishonest before. I'm guessing the Pope and all sorts of other moral "authorities" would also be interested...because, let's just say, that kind of human specimen is pretty rare. More likely, doesn't exist at all.

Was this really the case she said she would never ever perform again? From what I remember, it was more like "I want to see how it is to live without a busy schedule".

I think there was a statement around her graduation that implied, or seemed to imply, that she would leave the entertainment industry. It didn't specify forever, but that was the general idea people took from the statement.

As far as I can tell, none of the randomly chosen people appearing in this photo, especially Ah-rin, appear to believe any of the Little Green Giant's BS spewed before, during, or after this awkward show.

There may well have been some contractual hush factor, though I'm surprised there wasn't some sort of 10 or 20 year non-competition clause, as is the case in typical USA Hollywood and music industry contracts. Not to say that a suitcase or two stuffed with cash in the past hasn't solved the issue for the eager artists wanting to get on with their careers.

I'm guessing in Momoka's case it's more of a Japanese cultural thing where just everything gets swept under the rug when it comes to revealing anything, even among friends, even when you know nobody believes a word you're saying.

The happy ending for me would be that Momoka eventually re-joins the roots of her musical life, but I'm not holding my breath for that one. The departure and the motives behind it still don't sit right, at least in my chairs.

I haven't seen this show, but for me it seems they are just sad Momoka is leaving.

Another issue is who holds copyright on Momoka's songs. Or is she going to participate with completely fresh oeuvre? I guess we will see.

Copyright is not an issue for live performances, she can sing whatever she wants (her songs, Momoclo songs, Beatles songs, doesn't matter). There's a (fixed) license fee when you don't own the copyright, but the venue pays for it, and they don't need permission from the copyright holder.

I'm looking forward to seeing that! Since it's a few months until the broadcast I guess they'll have time to make the sound mix better than what the livestreams sometimes sounds like. That's good news, even though it means we have to wait.

Nice that it's Asahi. That's one program I'm sure gonna record!

Anyway 'nuff about her personal life or whatever
Welcome back to music, Momoka :)
Hopefully someone will present a setlist soon...

Sorry, maybe I was unclear. There was no livestream. I meant that usually when these smaller concerts are broadcast we get to see them via livestream, which means audio and video quality suffer. By having it air in a couple of months instead of a livestreaming it I hope we'll get it in better quality.
