When Momoclo is not invited to Kouhaku, chances are slimer for any other stardust groups.

I hate to say this but imo current Ebichu is too far from being candidate for Kouhaku next year, but next year haven't started yet so..

I need to check the oricon rankings, because i felt that of the 48 roster, AKB was the lesser group this year. Which im totally clueless - i havent really been putting too much attention to AKB after that horrendous Mayu centered single last year

Well, from what I saw, AKB wasn't doing too well in a relative sense in the first part of the year, but their sales picked up again in the later part. At any rate, they were well above all the sister groups, so certainly they would still be the main one to invite to Kohaku. However, the really big story in Oricon from this year was Nogizaka46, as their sales are actually on a serious upward trend, instead of fighting a slow decline or staying around the same. It's no wonder they were added to the Kohaku lineup, because they're probably now a bigger deal than any of the sister groups, and there's buzz about them being ready to surpass AKB itself in not too long.

That doesnt surprise me. I mean, even Nogi b-sides have been good and solid. It was only a matter of time

^^ It makes you wonder though, why does Nogi's stuff seem to have that magic touch while AKB's hasn't for a while, with both being Aki-P projects? Does Nogi use different composers, or does having a fresher group just make things more inspired? I find it pretty strange. :-\"

I think they've chosen that strategy to make Nogiz more great. If they wanted they could give all this good songs to AKB.

Isn't Kamen Joshi a hardcore gravure group? At least I think I've seen some pretty strong stuff from them. So I think that kind of group, no matter how much they sell, won't be added because of their trashy image.

Kinda hypocritical because AKB does gravure too but it's seen more of a "clean" image.

As for Nogi, they have better songs, a cleaner image and a more contemporary vibe which can attract a different kind of public (more young girls, casual listeners....

Nogi's marketing strategy is quite different from AKB, it's not only the songs but the classy aura the group has.

I meant their gravure photoshoots are hardcore, not the steampunk concept or their music being hardcore. I remember one gravure photobook they did that was the trashiest I've ever seen (and I've seen BiS, but at least BiS looked like they were having fun with it)

I love steampunk stuff and I thought Kamen Joshi might be for me but then I saw some of the stuff they do and I was so thankful that the stardust girls never have to do things like that.

I thought as well that the graduating comment after not being invited was a bit childish to put it mildly.
Seems like a severe case of insulted ego

Probably hurt feelings more than insulted ego. Momoclo have been pretty innovative, for the past few years...not just for an idol group, but for J-pop in general. The produced some really good music.

It's odd for a major music show, that lives off J-pop, to snub one of the more innovative groups, just because they didn't have huge sales for the year. It's not like they fell off the map, they're still very popular. But they didn't seem to focus on sales, they seemed focused on evolving into more than just a typical idol group, both in terms of the group's image, and the girls' personal abilities.

I assume Kawakami expected a little more support from NHK, because of that, and was disappointed when he didn't get it.

I disagree with all due respect :)
Kawakami is in the business long enough not to expect something like support.
And for what? NHK doesn't owe him anything. They go by a mixture of tradition and what was hot this year.
That's what the audience expects. And not all viewers are Mononofu (as hard as that is to believe) :)
The other acts on Kouhaku deserve the attention as well. And in showbusiness nothing is as old as yesterdays's news

And I think kwkm does have an enormous ego that doesn't allow things not going his way.
What other producer has his own webshow? Lol

Here's another missing episode (#23 from September 15)

    That's Nippon!
    That's Kohaku!

    The selection criteria
    1. succeed this year
    2. public opinion
    3. based on intention of the planner or the producer.

    A) inquiry into public opinion conducted by interviewing a random sample of 5,000 people
    B) conducted a web questionnaire of 8,000 people
    C) the popular songs sung at "NHK Nodo Jiman"
    D) CD, Cassette Tape and DVD sales
    E) The karaoke chart and Usen chart

soo um just wondering if the CD/DVD/BD sales was count 1 for 1 person not how many 1 person buy will that help MCZ , cause if i see from oricon Chart 2015 first half MCZ only got around 70 to 80k CD sales for each of their 2 latest single while other "idol" got as high as million , well in BD they are doing good got in top 10, i'm happy with the countdown and missing this year kohaku is fine (well there will be kohaku next year n so on) tough the use of "graduation" is regretable no argue about that, and agree with Matt KWKM , aside from own web show , radio, Bodyslamboys is it KWKM too ? and what i also regret that the "graduation" is posted in official site as MCZ word(it got 週末ヒロインももいろクローバーZ below not KWKM), i'm sure it's not the member word not even one of em. well i just hope that it doesn't give bad repercussion to MCZ in the future.

    ^ of course it's not.
you could see how disappointed and frustrated the members are.

2012 ended with a blast when they collaborated with Hotei for Saraba. 2013, 5TH DIMENSION was regarded as a masterpiece of the idol world, then they brought their quirkiness to the next level with GOUNN. 2014 was big for them, Kokuritsu and Nissan, of course they were invited. this year, though they did a collaboration with KISS and DBZ, also starring on Maku ga Agaru in the first half of the year, there was nothing new in the latter half of the year. of course the hype would be depleted if you didn't have many appearance in public since you got nothing to promote.

Okay, so I'm biased with my greenish glasses. But still.... :)

I just love how Momoka is developing constantly
Her singing has improved enormously the past year.
She learned how to play drums (at least a bit. Lol )
and has frequently now accompanied herself on guitar on different shows
While her playing is still rudimentary she is tackling the task of getting better
It's a bit like it was in the beginning when Momoka joined Momoclo.
She was put in there to bring them on a new level performance wise and it worked
And I feel the others will have to pick up their tempo in the near future as I see a bit of stagnation there lately

This was mainly an episode for coalamode. (コアラモード.) and seiyu unit earphones (イヤホンズ) with some extra Momoka thrown in who Kikuchi P seems to adore and push.

    1. A duet with coalamode's Annu, both on guitar with Satoshi Takebe at the piano: Yuming's "Dandelion ~Osozaki no Tanpopo~" which Momoka has sung on Folk Mura before. I left the short talk in there in which the main guests speak about Momoclo and her

    2. Funk Queen Momoka's performance of "Kyouiku" with Zanichi Funk. That combo had recorded the song for the "Momoclo★All Stars 2012" album

    3. A "new" song for her: Masashi Sada's "Tobiume" accompanied by violinist Chieko Kinbara

I left out some talk about Momoclo and a performance of "Moon Pride" by the main guests. But I have put it on DM for those interested
